  • New Beginnings at Easter School 2023

    Wed 05 Apr 2023 KB

40 Clare Mount students - young and even younger - have been enjoying a fantastic week of activities at Easter School 2023. Our Easter School is one of hundreds of 'HAF' (Holiday Activities with Food) programmes, funded by The Department of Education during school holidays. Several Clare Mount staff have been supporting Easter School - giving their support and expertise to ensure the children have a fantastic time - making new friends, learning new skills and participating in sports, games and creative activities. During the week, activities have included football, dodgeball, cricket, table-top games, sitting volleyball, boccia, cookery, arts and crafts, cycling, fitness and trampolining. Our participants come from 14 different schools across Wirral and Cheshire. This has been a brilliant way to help our new year 7 students (starting in September 2023) feel more safe and part of our community - even before they start with us!

A massive thank you to Ben, from Full of Beans Fitness, for his multi-sport coaching all week and to Joe Grant from Energise Cycles, Birkenhead for his fab cycling coaching!!

  • A Truly Wonderful Celebration Assembly for Clare Mount - Easter 2023

    Sun 02 Apr 2023 KB

On Friday 31st March - our last day before the Easter Break - we enjoyed celebration assemblies at both our school sites. Students received their well-earned recognition for - (amongst other things)

    • Excellence in the classroom (Subject Stars)
    • 'My Personal Best' employability and character attributes (resilience, empathy, respect, concentration, curiosity and much more!)
    • Being excellent role models (Clare Mount Awards)
    • Preparation for Adulthood
    • Contribution to Wider School Life (enrichment and extra-curricular involvement)

It really was a very special couple of hours and it was fantastic to see how proud the students were of their achievements and contributions. We were all treated to performances by our school band (Jared, Darrell and Charlie - expertly supported by Mr Waters and Mr Gore), our school singers AND our boys dance troupe - trained and choreographed by Mrs Corcoran.

A new feature of the assembly was a chance for members of our school council to speak to the rest of the student body about what it means to them to be a Clare Mount student and what they enjoy most about school and representing their peers. They all spoke with such confidence and joy! Amazing performances!

As we neared the end of proceedings we were joined by special guest, Joe Keelan - a former student who has recently graduated as a member of The Royal Navy. Joe spoke to us all about his experiences on his 10-week training programme. It is just amazing to see how Joe has grown in confidence and he gave a perfect demonstration of what our students can achieve in future with self-belief, hard work and determination.

    A magic morning!

Careers and business were in action earlier today in ICT with Mr Kearney. The students were learning all about 'Effective Planning!'

Careers week has left a lasting impression on students with work being produced across school demonstrating a deeper understanding of the world of work and further education!.

Keep it up Clare Mount - it's all about Prep for Adulthood!

  • Clare Mount Wildflower Project with Ling Warlow

    Tue 21 Mar 2023 MHa / KB

On Friday 17th March we had the great pleasure of welcoming local artist, Ling Warlow to Clare Mount. Ling showed a group of 13 students from across Years 7 and 8 how to make wildflowers out of crepe paper. The group showed off their creative flair, as you can see from the selection of photographs! The poppies will now be used as part of a display at Thurstaston visitor centre to mark the 50th anniversary of the Woodland Trust - alongside flowers made by other schools across the Wirral. We will also get an invite at a later date to attend the reveal and have a picnic lunch!
