  • Clare Mount take another notable scalp at Cricket

    Tue 10 May 2016 P.Kearney

Our boys were involved in a Wirral cricket tournament on 9th May 2016 which took place at Irby Cricket Club. All other schools involved are mainstream and we were grouped with St Mary's Wallasey and Pensby.

In the first game against St Mary's our boys restricted the opponents to 64 but were unable to chase down the total due to a combination of many factors including some excellent bowling from the opposition.

In the second game against Pensby, the boys were re-invigorated and bowled and fielded excellently to restrict the opposition to 52. A wicket first ball of the run chase did not bode well but, with excellent batting from Henry and Chris, we managed to chase down the total with 2 balls to spare. A great win against a fantastically sporting opponent whose staff and students were quick to congratulate the boys.

A third game against Pensby produced the champagne moment pictured as young Dennis in year 7 made his hard ball cricket debut and finished 3 not out in another successful game.

Thanks to Cheshire Cricket Board and our opponents for an excellent afternoon, also Irby Cricket Club as fine hosts. We will have further games during the month of July and our girls will be involved in their own upcoming tournament. Thanks also to Mr White for his constant support and encouragement throughout.

  • Clare Mount pupils and staff represent England

    Tue 03 May 2016 D. Keefe
Harry (Year 11), Paul (Year 10), Mr Keefe and Mr White represented Clare Mount and Special Olympics England at the 3rd World School Sport Education Games in Greece from the 22nd to 28th March 2016. The pupils and staff made up a team of 27 representing England alongside similar teams from Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Cyprus and France. The event started in Olympia with a stay at the Olympic IOC headquarters. Pupils and staff got to run through the Ancient Olympic site with Olympic Marathon Gold medallist Rosa Mota, before taking part in various running, football and basketball challenges. In between lectures on the Olympic Values the team also stayed in Athens and took part in the Olympic Torch Relay in Marathon and the handover of the Olympic Flame to Brazil in the 1896 Olympic stadium. An amazing, educational experience for all with new friendships made across the World.
