  • Clare Mount Cricketers have fun in the sun at Caldy CC

Fri 29 Jun 2018 Paul Kearney

Clare Mount's cricketers travelled to Caldy CC to play two fixtures in the Wirral Schools competition against Mosslands and Caldy Grange Grammar and for many of this magnificent 7 it was their first taste of hard ball cricket. Reeve, George, Philip, Dennis, Sam, Lewis and John represented the school with immaculate behaviour and conduct and were a pleasure to be involved with. We lost by 11 runs to a strong Mosslands side and then by 40 runs to Caldy despite a Bothamesque performance from Dennis with two Caldy wickets clean bowled and the shot of the day down the ground for 4. It was our last tournament with the excellent Mr O'Connell as part of the coaching set up. He has helped every player to develop this year and we will miss him greatly in the Cricket squad. Thanks to Mr Williams and Mr Keefe for dropping us off and picking us up today also

  • Clare Mount Shortlisted for TES awards 2018

    Fri 29 Jun 2018

Clare Mount was very pleased to once again be shortlisted for Alternative provision school of the year at the prestigious TES awards. The 2018 Tes Schools Awards were held in association with The Royal Air Force, on Friday 22 June 2018 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London.

Unfortunately we were pipped to the post by Brookside Academy, Street, Somerset but we are still immensely proud of being shortlisted for the category for the third year running.

  • Alder Cricket Tournament another success in the sunshine.

Thu 07 Jun 2018 Paul Kearney

We travelled to Alder for the annual tournament and would play 4 games this year against Woodchurch High, Crosby High, Alt Bridge and Sandfield Park. Our team of Reeve, Dennis, Philip, Sam, Katie, Tommy, Lewis and George had a brilliant day and were unlucky in a couple of games.

Game 1 we were comfortably beaten by Crosby High who were a much more "experienced" side and we competed well. Game 2 and a questionable decision for 6 plus encountering probably the best individual player in the tournament led to a sensational tied result with Woodchurch. Game 3 and a phantom 6 led to us losing by 3 despite a magnificent effort against, again, a more "experienced" side of Alt Bridge. Game 4  Sandfield hit the ball hard and, despite plenty of wickets, we were defeated

As you will see from the images attached, the students had an amazing day and I, personally, am so proud of them. This group had several debutants who took their first ever wickets and scored their first ever runs but, more importantly, they did it whilst having a brilliant time. I am proud to lead the cricket and I am proud to work with Mr O'Connell who has worked tirelessly with the students and improved their skills throughout the year giving up a substantial amount of his own time to develop them as cricketers and people. He has been a real asset to me this school year with his hard work and fantastic commitment and myself and the players cannot thank him enough. Please take time to look at the attached images.
