  • Non-uniform & Harvest Festival 23/10/20

    Tue 20 Oct 2020 SO

Non uniform and Harvest Festival Donations

Over recent years Clare Mount Specialist Sports College has developed a special link with Forum Housing.  Forum Housing provides shelter for young people who may struggle to live at home and may find themselves homeless. On occasion young mums need a safe place to stay and arrive with nothing for themselves or their baby.

We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of pupils, parents and carers in supporting this cause and ask for your support once again this year.  In return for wearing non-uniform on Friday 23rd October 2020 we are asking pupils to bring in tins of food, packets of biscuits, pasta or soups and other non-perishable items.  Please ensure donations are in date.

All donations are to be brought into school and placed in the bag provided in class.  These bags will then be left untouched and collected by Forum Housing later next week.

Thank you in advance for your kind donations.

  • Clare Mount's Summer School a Resounding Success

    Sun 04 Oct 2020 KB

Between 20th and 30th July this year Clare Mount staged a phenomenal summer school for our current and new-starter students.

A total of 42 of our students attended some part of Summer School. 25 of the attendees were our NEW Year 7s. The ‘themes’ of summer school were friendship, transition and well-being

Activities included Forest-School, problem-solving, Chinese culture, science, food, yoga, fencing, dance, relaxation, circus skills, musical theatre, athletics, arts/crafts, team-building and all manner of inclusive sport.

The summer school would not have been possible without the help of some amazing external partners: Georgie from Sale Sharks, Jon from Edsential, the team from Edsential Food, Nicky, Corrie, Erica, Jordan, Phill, Claire and Sam from Full-of-Beans Fitness and Pete from Little Musketeers. We also received fantastic assistance from a small army of volunteers: James, Beth, Erin, Josh, Bethany, Tiarna, Ruby and Otto!

The Clare Mount staff team (teachers, support team, teaching assistants and admin staff) showed their incredible commitment and expertise before, during and after the summer school to ensure that our students achieved their main aims of having a brilliant time while getting used to their new school and staff

100% of our parents described the summer school as 'Excellent'

Here is a selection of quotes from our parents following Summer School....

“A big thank you to all the staff and volunteers, you have made my son feel secure about starting Clare Mount in September.”

“My son is so lucky to have received these 2 weeks as a transition from primary to secondary. It is a great introduction and his teachers and all the staff have really looked after him so well, we're really grateful. Thank you.”

“My child thoroughly enjoyed the summer school and looked forward to attending every day. As a parent I really appreciated the opportunity for him to spend some time back in school as he needs routine and this has been difficult to maintain because of COVID. He now feels more confident going back to school in September after attending the summer school. Thank you all so much for your time and effort”

“We are just pleased that our daughter was keen enough to attend. Whilst we would have liked her to attend more than one day per week attending, at least she now feels confident enough to know a little bit more about what to expect in September. It also helps that she already knows some of the other children who will be there in September. Also the staff are all very friendly and clearly knowledgeable about what they do.”

"It seems staff and volunteers have gone above and beyond in response to the difficulties faced by the youngsters over the past few months. Everyone had a smile on their face at pick up and drop off, it felt like a happy and positive place to be. Well done and thank you!"

"Brilliant from start to finish, very well organised."

"My son's happiness is all that is needed. In fact he was so upset when he realised it wasn’t open on Fridays. He thoroughly enjoyed his time there and he can’t wait to start in September now. His anxiety has been lessened."

"My child was really nervous to go to summer school. They made him feel comfortable and were very helpful and really enjoyed going"

"My son has really enjoyed it. Especially considering lockdown has meant he hasn’t been at school for some time. Lots of different activities."

"Brilliant school and staff so caring and nothing is any trouble."

"It's been well organised, fun yet informative for my son. He's got involved with the activities and most of all looked forward to going each day."

"My Son has thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the teachers have been amazing with him!"

"My son loved going in each day - says it all!"

"The routines for the two days our daughter attended were well set out and she stated that she enjoyed what she did and cannot wait to start full-time in September."

My boy calls it ‘Fun school’. We are so grateful that he has had the opportunity to have fun in a relaxed and friendly environment where he has a clear sense of belonging. Invaluable for him!"

"Considering we are all going through a pandemic I think Clare Mount have been exceptional in all aspects."

"My daughter came home happy looking forward to going each day."

"The staff are always enthusiastic and welcoming"

"Clare Mount staff are so friendly and professional, and my son says it's awesome, he’s had such a lovely few days visiting his new school and it has massively helped transition x"

"Brilliant variety of activities but staff also tailored some to individual needs."

  • A brilliant start to the year for Clare Mount's Wonderful 6th Form

    Fri 02 Oct 2020 KB
As we complete week 5 of the most unusual school term ever, it is brilliant to reflect on the incredible way our students have adapted to the 'new normal.' Our 6th form have, as always, led the way with some brilliant work in their 'preparation for life' curriculum. Here are some snaps of the last few weeks showing our students doing what they do best!
