Year 11 Schemes

Year 11:

Most students in Year 11 follow the Pearson Edexcel Level 1/ Level 2 GCSE (9-1) in Combined Science. This enables students to achieve 2 Science GCSE's.

The GCSE course is assessed by a written exam consisting of 6, 1 hour 10 minute; papers are taken at the end of Year 11.

All students have 3 Science lessons per week.

Those students who have taken the extra Science option have an additional 3 lessons per week. These students are following the Pearson Edexcel Level 1/ Level 2 GCSE (9-1) Single Science courses in Biology ,Chemistry and Physics which enables them to achieve 3 Science GCSE's.

The students are taught in groups that staff feel are most appropriate, taking into consideration their needs and strengths. 

Students' progress is monitored throughout the year and all students will sit a mock in January.

A small group of students follow a more vocational Horticultural Science course in Year 11 to develop valuable life skills.

Staff will put a note in your child's diary to say which topic they are working on and will update you when the class start a new topic.
