The Drama Department at Clare Mount aims to provide pupils with dramatic skills, techniques and conventions centred on the identification exploration and manipulation of different forms of communications. It enables the exploration of topics and views from all aspects of the curriculum and life, developing skills each as the ability to work in a team, communicate effectively, use initiative and be adaptable and creative.
Drama lessons aim to provide a framework for the improvement of confidence and self-esteem so that every individual may recognise the value of their contribution to an outcome.
To stimulate lasting pupil curiosity, interest and enjoyment of drama.
To enable pupils to become familiar with a body of knowledge, principles, skills, techniques, conventions and vocabulary related to drama.
KS 3 - pupils receive a block of drama lessons on a carousel basis, each year.
KS 4 - pupils can opt to study drama at KS4 and develop skills that support them in their future careers and lives.
Whenever possible, the Drama Department will involve itself in performance projects, visits to theatres and work with outside agencies such as LIPA to encourage our pupils to express themselves and have fun.
Shakespeare School Festival
Students who have opted for Drama at KS4 previously have had the opportunity to take part in 'The Shakespeare Schools Festival' giving them the chance to experience performing in a professional theatre, alongside other local schools. Clare Mount is always looking for these opportunities for our students so they can be role models for others.
