The Drama Department at Clare Mount aims to provide pupils with dramatic skills, techniques and conventions centred on the identification exploration and manipulation of different forms of communications. It enables the exploration of topics and views from all aspects of the curriculum and life, developing skills each as the ability to work in a team, communicate effectively, use initiative and be adaptable and creative.
Drama lessons aim to provide a framework for the improvement of confidence and self-esteem so that every individual may recognise the value of their contribution to an outcome.
To stimulate lasting pupil curiosity, interest and enjoyment of drama.
To enable pupils to become familiar with a body of knowledge, principles, skills, techniques, conventions and vocabulary related to drama.
KS 3 - pupils receive a block of drama lessons on a carousel basis, each year.
KS 4 - pupils can opt to study drama at KS4 following externally accredited courses as applicable.
Whenever possible, the Drama Department will involve itself in performance projects, visits to theatres and use of TIE companies to exchange and review own skills and enjoyment of Drama.
