  • English trip to see Jekyll and Hyde - The Musical

    Thu 22 Oct 2015 T. Lindsay
Jekyll and Hyde - The Musical

This musical thriller, portraying the struggle between good and evil, is based on the famous Robert Louis Stevenson novel, “The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde”. With an evocative score from the multi award-winning composers Frank Wildhorn & Leslie Bricusse, we’re taken into the struggle of this devoted scientist and the impact on those who fall in love with him.

The characters - particularly Henry Jekyll, his fiancée Lady Emma Carew and tavern girl Lucy Harris, are finely and sympathetically worked - each moving the tale on with richly emotional solos and duets. The best-known song, ‘This is the Moment’, is sung by Jekyll as he realises he must make himself the subject of his experimental treatment, having been rebuffed by the powers that be.

It’s a thrilling, fast-paced tale, laced with romance, intrigue and murder. Its music, right from the tolling bell which begins the overture, has mesmerised audiences the world over. The original Broadway production ran continuously for nearly 4 years, having clocked up over 1500 performances.
