  • A Magical Production - Matilda! Christmas 2023

    Sun 07 Jan 2024 KB

Our school community was treated to a truly magical performance of Roald Dahl's / Tim Minchin's Matilda over three dates in December. The magnificent performances were a showcase of the commitment, dedication, skill and camaraderie of over 50 Clare Mount students, admirably supported by several Clare Mount staff and volunteers, led by Head of Performing Arts - Mr. Gore.

The community performances, on the evenings of 13th and 14th December, both ended with well-deserved standing ovations, reflecting the outstanding talent on show - and then, on Thursday 21st December, the cast performed the show for the entire student body - providing inspiration for the next generation of performers!

What an amazing way to end the calendar year! Congratulations to everyone involved!

We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Parkfield Liscard CC are working with us in partnership from today and we hope that a mutually beneficial relationship will be formed. From our point of view we now have a home ground so Christmas has come already! See you in 2024

  • Cricket club is thriving at Clare Mount

Wed 13 Dec 2023 Paul Kearney

We have now finished our first term in Cricket club at Clare Mount. We meet every day at 12:35 as well as Tuesday after school until 4:30. We have superb coaches in Mr Basey and Matthew O'Connell as well as being assisted by Reeve Christall and Mr Holsgrove. The students are thankful, as is Mr Kearney who oversees cricket, that they have such high quality training and this has resulted in 4 players (so far!) being asked to train with the Cheshire Pan Disability squad, namely Jack C in Year 7, Alfie W in Year 8, Callum H in year 9 and finally Luke S in Year 9. We meet up again in the New Year

  • Successful Cricket Skills day at Leasowe Recreation Centre

Wed 13 Dec 2023 Paul Kearney

Our cricket club played in a skill festival on the 28th November with South Wirral High and Wirral Grammar, coordinated by Owen Williamson and Chris Edwards at Leasowe Recreation Centre. Our school were successful in the only competitive element of the tournament which was the group catching challenge. They were then given a talk by England LD captain Chris Edwards following his 13 years unbeaten run in series which includes numerous Ashes victories. Chris was most recently successful in South Africa and is a fantastic role model for our students. Some Images are attached

  • Clare Mount Students Accept Award on Behalf of Tranmere Rovers in the Community

    Tue 31 Oct 2023 KB

Tranmere Rovers in the Community were awarded the Disability Club of the Year accolade at the Cheshire FA’s annual awards ceremony on Friday - and Clare Mount students Brandon, Bailey and Leon were there to collect the trophy on their behalf!

TRIC host disability football sessions for both adults and juniors at Prenton Park Recreation Centre each week, as well as a Premier League 'Unified Kicks' session which is inclusive of all genders and disabilities.

TRIC have four disability teams who take part in the Cheshire Ability Counts Football League tournaments, an accredited PAN Disability Football League in Cheshire.

Leon, Brandon and Bailey who have been attending TRIC sessions for several years now, attended the ceremony and went up onstage to receive the award on behalf of the Club.

Leon was confident enough to deliver a fantastic acceptance speech at the awards ceremony and received a standing ovation, with some of those in attendance moved to tears, which you can read some of below:

“I would like to thank the Cheshire FA for awarding us Disability Club of the Year. I also thank my coaches at Tranmere for choosing me to speak on behalf of them. It is truly an honour for my family and Tranmere.

“At Tranmere, we do multiple football sessions with many disabilities. My friends have different and varying disabilities, for example, autism, cerebral palsy, and ADHD. I’m one of the autistic kids at Tranmere."

“It isn’t just the kids and adults that make Tranmere the Disability Club of the Year, it’s the coaches as well. My coaches, Faye, Louise and Corey are so helpful and they assist us in so many ways. Without our coaches, we wouldn’t be growing our football skills exponentially."

“I’m thirteen years old and I’ve been coming to Tranmere for five years. It isn’t just my football skills that have improved, it’s my social skills as well.

“I’ve received many accolades as well since starting school, which I am extremely proud of. I go to a special sports college and I’ve been awarded student council as well. My family and I couldn’t be more happy.”

Faye Jones, Disability Officer at Tranmere Rovers in the Community, said: “As a Club, we are so proud to be recognised for our disability provision.

“We have four teams who compete regularly in the Cheshire FA Ability Counts League and train weekly. We are proud that their dedication, hard work, and exemplary attitudes have been recognised with this accolade.”

If you or someone you know might like to join any of the football sessions mentioned above, you can contact Faye via FayeJ@tranmererovers.co.uk.

  • Celebration of Achievement Evening 2023

    Fri 20 Oct 2023 KB

On Thursday 19th October, we celebrated the magnificent work of our outgoing senior students by presenting them with their Records of Achievement. Every day, every week and every year our students break down barriers, learn new skills, develop their character and show the world their intrinsic value. They live and breathe our school's vision - to be role models and catalysts for change! This year, our awards were presented by Michelle Desilets, Executive Director of the Orangutan Land Trust. Michelle shared her experiences and achievements from a lifetime of helping to save and nurture Orangutans in Borneo and the campaigns that we, in the UK, can get involved in to promote the production of sustainable palm oil and save the orangutan habitat.

We were also delighted to hear from former student Jordan Clayton, who has followed his dream of working in ICT and is enjoying a successful career as a result.

The evening was opened, by our talented dance troupe, with a performance you can watch here: https://youtu.be/EVi3Sk_i5tg

A brilliant evening showcasing the talent and achievements of our amazing students!

The following day, Michelle joined us again to tell the whole school her story in a series of assemblies. We have vowed to keep in touch and join the fight for orangutan survival!

  • A proud night for Clare Mount at the Wirral Sports Awards

Thu 19 Oct 2023 Paul Kearney

A fantastic night was had this Tuesday evening as the Wirral Sports Awards took place at the Floral Pavilion in New Brighton.

In front of a packed house, one of our Year 9 students, Luke, won Active Wirral Individual of the Year, an award won in the past by superstars such as Olympic Swimmer Freya Anderson and we are so very proud of his achievements.

The night was capped off by the news that our PE Department headed off competition from some prestigious local schools to be named as PE Department of the Year. This is a fantastic achievement and testament to the diverse and inclusive nature of our work in PE.

    Congratulations to everyone involved.

  • "The champions of West Cheshire" win gold but lose a thrilling final at Warrington CC

Thu 22 Jun 2023 Paul Kearney

Our Cricket team travelled to Warrington for the North West regional tournaments. They beat Dorin Park by 107 runs to 36, Oaklands 2s in a close game by 76 runs to 68 then a strong performance saw us win by 106 runs to 26 against Foxfield and thus, win both the group and Gold Medals.

We played a final game against Oaklands 1s and we were beaten by 115 runs to 97 with some big hitting from both teams.

Here is the group with their medals and all of the players from every side. It was a fantastic day, brilliantly organised, as ever, by Cheshire Cricket Board.

Thanks  to Mr Ritchie for driving us to the tournament
