  • Clare Mount Health and Wellbeing week 11 - 15 January

    Thu 07 Jan 2016 D.Keefe

As a Health Promoting School Clare Mount is keen to encourage our pupils to make healthy lifestyle choices. Next week we want to focus on a number of healthy themes which may support your child/ward in making New Year resolutions and feeling good about themselves.

Starting on Monday our Assembly will focus on the importance of drinking water rather than fizzy drinks, or eating too many sugary products. Monday break time there will be a free fruit tasting session. There will also be a chance for all pupils to design a healthy meal for an elite athlete. The pupils who create the ‘best menus’ will have the opportunity to prepare their menu for GB Runner Johnny Mellor on Friday. Other events throughout the week will include interform events and our Road to Rio challenges. Friday is FITNESS FRIDAY when every pupil will take part in a 45 minute circuit designed by the Underground Training Station.

    We ask that:

    • Pupils do not bring sweets or chewing gum into school next week.
    • Pupils bring their trainers to school every day and also have a bottle with them so they can fill it with water.
    • Pupils come into school on Friday only in their PE kit or a tracksuit.

  • Pupil to have work exhibited in Liverpool art gallery

    Mon 04 Jan 2016 C.Hanley

During the Spring-term 4 pupils from Clare Mount were given the opportunity to work alongside the Open Eye Gallery in Liverpool. The focus of the project was ‘The Metamorphosis of Japan after WWII’.

A training session was held at Upton Hall School for pupils and staff and ran by Alan Thompson (Hi Impact) in the use of key Apps for annotating thoughts and reflections. These Apps were then used to produce digital art during the visit to the gallery.

At the end of the project we found out that one of our talented pupils, James in Year 10, had won the right to have his artwork displayed at the Open Eye Gallery exhibition on Friday 11th Dec – Sunday 13th Dec. Well done James, we’re very proud of you!
