Role Models and Catalysts for Change

A message to parents / carers from Mrs. Webster

Dear parents/carers,

Re: possible reopening of school to more pupils in June

You may have seen in the news that schools could reopen on 1st June to some primary-aged pupils if the government thinks it’s safe then. At Sunday’s announcement there was no specific mention of Secondary or Special schools like ours.

At Clare Mount Specialist Sports College, we’re waiting for further guidance and clarification from the government and will be working with the Local Authority to ensure it is safe before we start reopening for more of our students in the future.

It’s a very unsettling time for us all, but rest assured that we’re going to be doing everything we can to make sure we’re ready to receive more pupils when it’s safe for our school to do so.

There will be a carefully planned reintegration strategy to support students through this transition.

In the meantime, the school is still open only for vulnerable pupils where the safest place to spend the day is in school and for the children of critical workers. The safest place for the majority of our students (your child) at present is still at home with you. We know some employers will be encouraging you to return to work, but we’re not in a position right now to extend places to other children until we receive further government guidance.

We’d like to thank you for your continued support in helping your child learn and develop new skills from home.  There are some fantastic examples of this on our website. We’ll need to keep going with this for a while yet, so please do continue to do what you can and stay in touch with us about how your child is doing.

If you have any questions, please continue to contact your child’s form tutor.

Take care and stay safe.

Kim Webster
