As part of Tranmere Rovers In the Community’s (TRIC) Premier League Primary Stars Project, the Club continued their partnership with Claremount Specialist Sports College, who invited pupils from Orretts Meadow School and Hayfield School to an Inclusive Festival recently.

Pupils from the two local primary school engaged in a “Transition Festival,” which is aimed to help children who will be making the step up from primary school to secondary school next September.

Football and multi-skills sessions were delivered by TRIC coaches, with the event ending in a football tournament to conclude an enjoyable day.

Claremount sixth form students and sports leaders assisted TRIC’s coaches throughout the event, which continues Rovers’ Premier League Primary Stars Project.

Premier League Primary Stars uses the power and appeal of the Premier League and professional football clubs to inspire and develop important life skills both in and out of the classroom.

The project, which is open to every primary school in England and Wales, and pupils aged 5-11-years-old, aims to inspire the next generation.

From English and Maths to Team Work and Physical Education, learning is tailored to real-world football and sport when tackling a diverse range of topics.

TRIC engages with thousands of people across the Wirral peninsula and beyond each year to help improve the lives of those in our local community.

Working across four core themes of Community Engagement, Health, Education and Sports Participation - the community team’s work has expanded from coaching in schools to a wide range of innovative projects.

The charity is based at Tranmere Rovers Recreation Centre at Prenton Park, and the team visit many schools and colleges across the Wirral, while they also run a large number of our sessions from the Recreation Centre where more than 300 participants a week visit.

How do you feel about other religions?

All students participated in the lesson and enjoyed being able to ask their own questions to a person of faith.

  • Clare Mount proudly presents a Junior Officer of the Boys Brigade

    Fri 18 Oct 2019 C.Vicars

Well done to Jordan in our 6th former who attended the Boys Brigade annual enrolement service at church. He very proudly carried the Union Jack at the start and end of the service. He also had to respond to a question during the service, in previous years he did it as part of the group but as he is now a junior officer he had to do it on an individual basis. Great courage Jordan. Jordan also found the time to use his creative arts skills to produce some harvest biscuits.

  • Mosaic art at the 6th form centre

    Thu 17 Oct 2019 C.Vicars

They have concentrated so hard on these wonderful pieces of work in progress. We see white collared Doves, mountains, an octopus and even a 'hand of life'.

    Well done

  • Clare Mount Theme of the Fortnight: Courage

    Wed 16 Oct 2019 K. Byrne

This week and last we have been celebrating the courage shown by members of our community on a daily and weekly basis. Courage is one of the foundation skills that leads to self-discipline, self-motivation and responsibility; all of which are consistently reported as being vital attributes for future employees and happy, healthy adults. We have been sharing and celebrating everyday courage as seen in our community, whether it be the courage to stand up for yourself or someone else, the courage to try a new activity or the courage to simply be yourself!

We love to share activities that our students take part in outside of school so if you have anything to share that shows any of our themes so far this year (self-belief, honesty, courage) then please contact the school (k.byrne@claremount.wirral.sch.uk) or write something in your child's diary!

  • Receptionist practice for 6th form students

    Tue 15 Oct 2019 C. Vicars
6th form students were developing their confidence when using a telephone and taking a message. We set up a mock Doctors surgery and pupils had to ring the receptionist and ask to make an appointment. They had to check the spellings of people's names and give their date of birth. They all did a great job.

    Well done 6th form

  • 6th Form take on the 6 R challenge

    Mon 14 Oct 2019 C. Vicars

ASDAN Environment Studies are creating posters as one of their challenges. The group have discovered the 6 R's Rethink, refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle, replace. They have also discovered that discarded apple skins are puréed and dehydrated to form a flexible leathery sheet. Another pupil read that one clothing company is using pineapple fibres to make clothes! One student asked what happens at a recycling plant, so in the new year we hope to go and visit one to find out for ourselves.

    Well done 6th form
