  • 'Le Tournoi' Finals Week Part 2

    Fri 28 May 2021 KB / PK
Wednesday and Thursday this week saw the 3rd and 4th games of our semi finals. Game 3 decided the line up for the Key Stage 3 final. Nelson met 7E, who had qualified for the semi final with the best 2nd placed Goal Difference. Lewis Cubbins drove them on to an emphatic victory to ensure that they play 9BO in the final. It was another game played in an excellent spirit and Nelson were a credit to their form, as were 7E

    Final Score:

    Nelson v 7E         1 – 6 (Lewis Cubbins)

The final day in the semi finals did not disappoint as a bumper crowd joined us as 6CS played 10L for the right to play 11BA in the Key Stage 4/5 Final.

It was a brilliant game and had concentration, self discipline, responsibility, fairness and imagination on show as everyone had a fantastic time playing and watching. 6CS went 1 down early but then roared into life, firstly with a Stuart Pearce-esque free kick from Harry Graham and then Jack Blessing took charge and fired 6CS into a 4-1 lead. Will Button got a penalty but with 50 seconds left it was 4-2 and 6CS were advancing, but he again took charge and forced a remarkable 4-4 draw with a very late equaliser.

Extra time arrived and neither side wanted to give any quarter and it looked like we were heading for penalties, but Cometh the hour, cometh the Riley and James poked home very late on for a famous 5-4 victory for 6CS.

    So today's result:
    6CS v 10L     5 – 4 (A.E.T) (James Riley)

Lots of excitement for today's final!!!!!!!
  • Year 7 Perform Magnificently in Friendly Tournament at Bebington High Sports College

    Tue 25 May 2021 KB

One of the most frustrating features of the last 14 months has been our inability to play sport off-site. With the latest lifting of restrictions we were finally able, this week, to give our year 7 boys their first taste of a football fixture; with huge thanks to the staff and students at Bebington High Sports College for being great hosts.

The boys each played three matches in a quick-fire round-robin tournament.

In round one both of the Clare Mount teams suffered defeat but the fears felt by Mr Byrne, Mr Holsgrove and Miss Durkin that this may lead to a downturn in courage, enthusiasm and teamwork were completely allayed in round 2; both teams rallying to 2-2 draws against their respective opponents with goals from Charlie and Lewis.

The final round of matches saw Clare Mount's two teams play against each other and after a battling performance from Lewis; coming so close to putting his team in front, Charlie stole the show with a magnificent left-footed drive into the bottom corner to seal victory.

Every single one of the boys grew in confidence throughout the afternoon and they all made significant contributions to the tournament, whether it was brilliant rear-guard defending from Jayden, midfield battling from Jamie, outstanding goalkeeping from Seth and clinical goal-scoring from Lewis and Charlie.

The boys did themselves proud! Well done: Seth, Jack, Lewis, Alfred, Josh, Harvey, Jayden, Freddie, Caydin, Connor, Jamie, Charlie and Oscar

  • Finals Week of 'Le Tournoi' in Full Swing!

    Tue 25 May 2021 KB / PK

After several weeks of brilliant competition, we have reached the final week!!

On Monday, a fantastic game saw 10N and 11BA match up in the first Key Stage 4 semi-final and it didn't disappoint. 11BA started strongly and were ahead twice in the match but the ups and downs of the game and a tidy finish from the senior player for 10N saw the game go to extra time at 2-2. Despite 3 extra minutes a winner was not to be found and so penalties decided this fantastic game with 11BA prevailing. This was exactly what the tournament is about and was played with skill and good grace, officiated strongly and fairly by Ben, who has really grown into the role. Luke covered every blade of turf and did it with excellent resilience and teamwork on show and so he deservedly wins player of the match.

Final score: (Player of the match in brackets)
    10N v 11BA   2 -2 (A.E.T 11BA win on pens) (Luke)

On day 2, 7P met 9BO in the first Key Stage 3 semi-final and it was another phenomenal game played in fantastic spirit and the resilience, encouragement, co-operation and respect on show was truly inspiring. 7P were awesome and wave after wave of attack came in before Owen Finlay, against the run of play, put the 9s into the lead.

7P were not deterred and early in the second half went 2-1 in front thanks to some smart saves from Seth and excellent play from Charlie, Josh and Alfred. Whilst it was 2-1 the 9s were still in with a chance and so it proved as Connor popped up with a strike to take the tie into extra time.

Lots of good football but no goals meant we went to a penalty shootout for the second day running and the drama was palpable as we then entered sudden-death penalties. Despite some wonderful keeping from Seth, Owen popped up with the winning penalty to take 9BO through in a thrilling match.

    Final score:

    7P v 9BO         2 – 2 (A.E.T 9BO win on pens) (Charlie)

  • EID MUBARAK

    Thu 13 May 2021 KB

EID MUBARAK to all our Muslim students, staff and members of our community.

Eid al-Fitr is celebrated on the first day of the month of Shawwal, which follows Ramadan as the 10th month of the lunar-based Islamic calendar.

Like the start of Ramadan, the date of Eid is established by the sighting of the crescent moon, which generally appears one night after the new moon, and marks the onset of the month of Shawwal, the tenth of the Islamic Hijri calendar.

This year’s moon sighting in Saudi Arabia has been prected for either Tuesday 11 May or Wednesday 12 May, with the Eid festival following a day later. The majority of Muslims in the UK are celebrating Eid today.

Eid al-Fitr’s name comes from an Arabic term which translates as the “feast of breaking the fast” and, although not a public holiday in the UK, it is for many Muslim countries.

In normal years, it is traditional for Muslims to gather together in a park to celebrate breaking their fast, with large-scale events and festival food (particularly sweet treats), prayer and stalls.

However, due to the Covid-19 restrictions still in place in the UK and other countries, the communal aspect of Eid will be hampered this year.

After Eid some Muslims decide to fast for the six days that follow. This stems from the Islamic belief that a good deed in Islam is rewarded 10 times, thus fasting for 30 days during Ramadan and six days during Shawwal creates a year’s worth of goodwill.

  • 6th Form Spring Walk to Leasowe Lighthouse for Environmental Studies

    Tue 11 May 2021 KB / CV

6th form students went on a special mission this morning! As part of ASDAN Environment studies and functional maths we walked to Leasowe Lighthouse. We discovered some interesting facts out about the famous Wirral landmark. We also embrace this weeks theme of ‘connect’ by walking and talking with others. While the sun was still shining we hot-footed it to The Green Hut. Our 6th form were so well-mannered and ordered food and drinks using their own money. Making the most of the good weather we all sat chatting and sharing stories. What a great morning!

  • 6th Form Visit Coleg Cambria

    Tue 11 May 2021 KB / KM

A group of our senior students had a fantastic morning on a transitional visit to Coleg Cambria, Northop in North Wales. The college is an amazing site for animal care and many of our students have attended over the years. We had a tour of all the animal areas and Troy made a friend in Peggy the Horse (pictured). Big thanks to Maryanne at Coleg Cambria for organising and hosting the visit.
