  • Clare Mount's Bowling Team are Regional Champions!!!!!

    Wed 18 May 2022 KB

In February, The Clare Mount 10-pin Bowling Team won gold at the inaugural Merseyside SEND Tournament in Liverpool. The sponsors 'Panathlon' then invited 23 winning schools from all North West counties to a regional festival, held on 18th May at Hollywood Bowl, Middlebrook: In the shadow of the University of Bolton Stadium: Home to Bolton Wanderers FC.

A wonderful competition ensued, in which Clare Mount's team excelled in their skill, determination and teamwork: Cheering each other on after every effort. Team captain, Adam, was on particularly good form and it wasn't long before the organisers noticed that Adam was amassing a very impressive score: Eventually finishing on 151 points!!

Competition format meant that it was important that every member of the team performed well: Every score counted towards a cumulative total and an average score. Clare Mount ended with a score of 663 points overall and an average of 110.5 points per bowler. This proved to be enough for first place overall: A wonderful achievement.

Gold medals for all and the award for top bowler for Adam were presented by Nathan Maguire, British Paralympic Athlete (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nathan_Maguire) Nathan showed the students his silver medal from the Tokyo Paralympics and he is hoping to go one better at The Commonwealth Games in Birmingham later this year.

Our students proved once again that they are role models and catalysts for change!

The students took part in multiple activities, strengthening friendships and building confidence and problem-solving skills along the way.

Well done to all our students for their impeccable behaviour and respect towards both the Clare Mount and Barnstondale staff throughout the week.
