  • Wirral homeless fundraising event - Prenton Park

    Thu 27 Sep 2018 J. MacLean

Wirral Ark are a Birkenhead based homeless charity providing supported accommodation, training, medical provision and activities to the homeless in Wirral.

As demand for our services has increased and funding gets more restricted, we are now having to proactively fundraise to bridge the gaps.  As a part of our fundraising efforts we have organised a sleep out at Tranmere Rovers on 5th October, which will also benefit six other Wirral based organisations that work with the homeless in some way.  Kip on the Kop takes places overnight on Friday 5thOctober and is open to people aged 18+.  We ask that participants pre-register for £10 per person, and that each participant raises a minimum of £50 in sponsorship.

  • Inspirational visit from Olympian and World Champion Shanaze Reade

    Tue 18 Sep 2018 J. White

Joining us for assembly today was a special guest.  Olympian and World Champion Shanaze Reade came to Clare Mount to support the cycling programme, which runs here.

The cycling programme (which includes our Learn to Ride scheme and Bikeability Level 1 and 2), developed further in the past year by Mr Keefe and Mr Cutts, now includes a partnership with British Cycling and HSBC called ‘Go-Ride-Go’.

‘Go-Ride-Go’ gives young people the confidence to ride a bike and take this confidence into other areas of school such as Maths and English.

Shanaze was fantastic and very inspirational with the young people here and at Orrets Meadow Primary School, handing out certificates to those involved.  We wish Shanaze the best of luck in her preparations for Tokyo 2020.

Schools across the UK can access a case study of ‘Go-Ride-Go’ here.

  • Students at Clare Mount achieved GCSE Results way above expectations!

    Mon 17 Sep 2018 L.Evans

Students at Clare Mount achieved GCSE Results way above expectations!

“Well Done to all our students following their excellent examination results.”

At Clare Mount we are delighted for all students that achieved or beat their aspirational target qualifications this year.

For some, this involved attaining a BTEC Level 1 in Sport when their target was

Entry Level…….and for one student, with a target of Geography GCSE Grade 4, this involve achieving a Grade 7 (equivalent to an ‘A’) so an extra celebration for Oliver.

    Our percentage of higher grades has increased significantly this year; which is fantastic considering almost all our students come to us not able to access the Key Stage 2 SATs at the end of primary school;

therefore even being able to walk into the examination room and take GCSEs is a massive step forward.

The percentage of students entered who achieved the equivalent of Grade C or above has increased brilliantly in the following subjects:

    % pass

    % C+ (2017)

    % C+ (2018)

    English

    100

    3.4

    Eng. Lit.

    16

    55

    Geog

    100

We are also pleased to announce that the percentage of students achieving English and Maths GCSE has steadily increased over the last 3 years.

    Well done to everyone!
