Drama

Drama Intent

The Drama Department at Clare Mount aims to develop student’s interest and enjoyment in drama and theatre both as participants and as informed members of an audience. The Drama Department aims to engage and enthuse students about theatre and the performing arts.

Our aim is to explore a range of topics and views from all aspects and develop skills, such as the ability to work in a team, communicate effectively, use initiative and be adaptable and creative.

Drama lessons aim to provide a framework for the improvement of confidence and self-esteem so that every individual can achieve the potential they are capable of.

At Clare Mount, we focus on the following transferable skills in our drama lessons….

  • Communication
  • Confidence
  • Teamwork and leadership
  • Listening and responding
  • Creativity
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving
  • Time management
  • Research

Extra-Curricular Opportunities

The Drama Department performs regularly throughout the School year. Students are encouraged to get involved in School shows, workshops, assembly performances, visits to the theatre and other exciting opportunities.

We perform a community project each year in collaboration with LIPA (Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts). Previous community performances have taken place at Tom O’Shanter’s Farm, New Brighton and Tranmere Rovers Stadium.

The Drama Department perform regularly at the Shakespeare School’s Festival. This is an excellent opportunity for our students to perform an abridged Shakespeare Play which is devised and arranged by the students. They are given the chance to experience performing in a professional theatre (Floral Pavilion, New Brighton).
