Role Models and Catalysts for Change

Indoor cricketers shine in South Wirral

The under 15 boys team travelled to South Wirral with a sense of purpose with 3 debutants, namely Michael, Kierran and James from Y9, joining the group for their first games having all flourished in our recent Friday cricket sessions. First up was a game against Pensby and our boys batted first with James starring with some lusty blows, ably supported by Reeve, resulting in a total of 42 posted off 5 overs. The side, exceptionally led by Paul, looked comfortable in the reply with tight bowling from Paul, Michael G and James seeing us home by 9 runs for yet another mainstream victory.

The final game saw us play a Hilbre side with members of the Cheshire mainstream side yet, as myself and Mr White know with our boys, the side were completely competitive with Paul batting well and nullifying the vastly more experienced bowler helping us to a competitive 26 from 4 overs. In reply, tight fielding from Michael L and Kierran supported the bowlers and a famous victory looked on the cards. Sadly the Hilbre main player's experience shone through and we fell short off the final ball of the game, a monumental effort at the level our inexperienced side were required to perform at.

I have attached some images from the evening, including our new sports mascot, Gareth, posing at the game and with his alter-ego Gareth from Cheshire Cricket. Thanks to Mr White for his support and for sharing in my belief in these talented players. Girls tournament is next Thursday 24th November at Bebington.
