Drama is taught as part of our whole-school carousel in years 7-9 (1 double lesson per week for a period of between 7-9 weeks each year) and/or in discrete single lessons in certain year groups. The students are taught in their form groups
    Our teaching methods include:

Designing a process for students to create their own work from a stimulus (devising).
Incorporating practical exploration, research, and refinement into the learning process.
Using role-playing to explore different perspectives and complex issues.

    Impact

Drama has a tremendous impact on the personal development of our students.
Our whole-school ‘My Personal Best’ framework is designed to develop the
following key skills/attributes in Clare Mount students:
     Courage
     Self-Belief
     Communication
     Imagination
     Concentration
     Reflection
     Collaboration

It is arguable that no other subject develops these attributes as explicitly and profoundly as
drama. Students are taken out of their ‘comfort zone’ in a safe and friendly way and often
discover hidden talents and abilities – and our many productions provide an avenue for
further development of these skills. The knock-on effect to self-confidence and self-esteem is
    profound
