The Young Green Briton Challenge (YGBC) is a national school-based competition for schools in England designed to empower students to lead local climate action. Launched in 2022 by a coalition including GenEarth, Social Innovation for All, and the Green Britain Foundation (founded by Ecotricity's Dale Vince), it helps young people design and implement entrepreneurial solutions to environmental issues.
Year 9 took part in the Design Sprint: Visiting expert, Martin Foulkes delivered a one-day workshop in which our students formed teams to design solutions to some of the country's most significant sustainability and environmental challenges.
At the end of the day, all teams presented their ideas to each other before the judging panel decided on the best idea / best team of the day. 9Pa were voted as the best team. They will now get to work on creating a prototype of their idea before joining teams from across the North West in the regional stage of the competition - a 'Dragon's Den' in Manchester in June
If successful in June, our students may be selected for the national finals in London later in the year - where they could win big money prizes!
