Year 7 Perform Magnificently in Friendly Tournament at Bebington High Sports College
One of the most frustrating features of the last 14 months has been our inability to play sport off-site. With the latest lifting of restrictions we were finally able, this week, to give our year 7 boys their first taste of a football fixture; with huge thanks to the staff and students at Bebington High Sports College for being great hosts.
The boys each played three matches in a quick-fire round-robin tournament.
In round one both of the Clare Mount teams suffered defeat but the fears felt by Mr Byrne, Mr Holsgrove and Miss Durkin that this may lead to a downturn in courage, enthusiasm and teamwork were completely allayed in round 2; both teams rallying to 2-2 draws against their respective opponents with goals from Charlie and Lewis.
The final round of matches saw Clare Mount's two teams play against each other and after a battling performance from Lewis; coming so close to putting his team in front, Charlie stole the show with a magnificent left-footed drive into the bottom corner to seal victory.
Every single one of the boys grew in confidence throughout the afternoon and they all made significant contributions to the tournament, whether it was brilliant rear-guard defending from Jayden, midfield battling from Jamie, outstanding goalkeeping from Seth and clinical goal-scoring from Lewis and Charlie.
The boys did themselves proud! Well done: Seth, Jack, Lewis, Alfred, Josh, Harvey, Jayden, Freddie, Caydin, Connor, Jamie, Charlie and Oscar
