Role Models and Catalysts for Change

Alder Cricket Tournament another success in the sunshine.

We travelled to Alder for the annual tournament and would play 4 games this year against Woodchurch High, Crosby High, Alt Bridge and Sandfield Park. Our team of Reeve, Dennis, Philip, Sam, Katie, Tommy, Lewis and George had a brilliant day and were unlucky in a couple of games.

Game 1 we were comfortably beaten by Crosby High who were a much more "experienced" side and we competed well. Game 2 and a questionable decision for 6 plus encountering probably the best individual player in the tournament led to a sensational tied result with Woodchurch. Game 3 and a phantom 6 led to us losing by 3 despite a magnificent effort against, again, a more "experienced" side of Alt Bridge. Game 4  Sandfield hit the ball hard and, despite plenty of wickets, we were defeated

As you will see from the images attached, the students had an amazing day and I, personally, am so proud of them. This group had several debutants who took their first ever wickets and scored their first ever runs but, more importantly, they did it whilst having a brilliant time. I am proud to lead the cricket and I am proud to work with Mr O'Connell who has worked tirelessly with the students and improved their skills throughout the year giving up a substantial amount of his own time to develop them as cricketers and people. He has been a real asset to me this school year with his hard work and fantastic commitment and myself and the players cannot thank him enough. Please take time to look at the attached images.
